During the regular LCA meeting on Wednesday 6th February the LCA received an Unexpected Gift from the Madison County Community Foundation.
The Madison County Community Foundation celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2012 and is running "A Year of Unexpected Gifts" to honor this special milestone.
The MCCF has set aside $20,000 to be split up into 20 gifts of $1,000 each to be made to local nonprofit organizations.
Over the course of 2012 the MCCF selected twenty community members from within Madison County and they were then asked to choose an organization they would like the money given to.
Krista Loller who works as a counselor at Frankton High School was one such person that was asked who she would give the money to, and she chose the Lapel Community Association.
On hand last night was Tammy Bowman (left in photo) from the MCCF, Krista Loller (right) and Herschel Hinkle accepting the generous donation.
The Madison County Community Foundation does a lot for Madison County and you can read more on what they do at http://www.madisonccf.org/
No word on what the LCA will spend this money on yet but I am sure it will be a worthy cause!
You can find more information on this organization at their Stony Creek Lifestyle listing accessible here.
